Hi, i recently got a usb cable for my Nikon Coolpix S510 because i wanted to get some photos from the internal memory, but when i connect it to the computer it doesnt do anything. The camera turns on and it just remains blank. Is the usb port on the camera broken? I tried their software too, no luck.
Try another computer. Take it to a Nikon dealer, see if they have a cable that will work. Ask the vendor to send you another cable.
It's worth looking through the Nikon's menus for a facility to transfer images from internal memory to a card --but like many cameras the Nikon may, puzzlingly, lack that function.

Thanks.
Is it as straightforward as plugging it in your computer (which I assume is Windows based)? Some digital cameras require drivers to be installed first, otherwise Windows will screw up the detection.
