My hp dv2500 (2718us) will not power up when the power adapter is plugged in the blue light comes on the side, but the light at the front of the machine does not come on, and it doesn't turn on.

I too have the exact same problem. Anyone have any ideas?

First try a new power brick. Try without the battery in it. If both those don't work, need to have a repair shop check the jack.
