If you have the installation disks and the activation codes, then I suggest that you format the drive first. Do an NTFS format.
After formatting, insert the Windows DVD in the DVD drive and install. When installation is complete, activate Windows using the activation codes that you have.
The next step will be a whole series of Windows updates.
This is a clean install of Windows and will solve many old problems.
