More Information

I have an HP PSC 2410 inkjet printer connected to a computer via USB. The computer is running Windows Vista Ultimate. The latest printer drivers are installed. (Only drivers available are the ones through windows update.) The printer is shared over the network. The printer works fine on this computer.

On my second computer, I have this printer added as a network printer. This computer is running Windows Vista Ultimate and has no firewall or antivirus programs. Whenever I try to print from an application, the computer hangs immediately after I select the shared printer as the destination. It happens with every program (Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe Reader, Photoshop, etc. etc.) Usually it takes upwards of a full minute before program becomes usable again after selecting the destination printer. For some reason it seems like it has problems connecting to the printer. However, I am able to go to printers in the control panel and click on this printer and everything looks fine. It says printer ready. After waiting for a while it does actually finally print, but the process from clicking print until the paper coming out takes 2-3 minutes. I have tried deleting the printer and re-adding it several times.

I also have a third computer on the network. This computer is connected to the printer over the network in the exact same fashion as the second computer. This computer is a laptop running Windows Vista Ultimate. On this computer the printer works perfectly normal as on the first computer.

Why does the printer refuse to work properly on only the second computer?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
