Can someone please help.

No one at all so far can help me with the screen res problem that I'm faced with, here's the deal.

I have a Hanon L-1715 17" LCD monitor (Same as the Digimate), which after installing Vista 64bit graphics card drivers from Nvidia will only display 1024x768 instead of the native res of 1280x1024. I have used an Nvidia 6600LE and now my new card, a Palit (nvidia) 8600GT to no avail. When i first installed Vista the screen Res was 1280x1024 (Great, but i should have checked to see what card memory was available) but naturally installed the latest drivers.
I am using up to date graphics card driver and up to date bios on my Mobo. When i install the card as a standard VGA card i can get the res to 1280x1024 however the card then only has 14MB of memory available, and does not run windows aero or anything that requires a bit of graphics processing (which goes against the point of having a half decent card). In a nutshell i seem to need some kind of hybrid graphics card driver or a driver for the LCD Screen. I have done everything available which includes e-mailing both Nvidia and Digimate. Digimate tell me that there is no driver required, Nvidia never responded although i know there is no fault with the card, also i am using DVI. I still have the fault if i use the 'D' sub connection

Just to add some extra help here:

In the Nvidia control panel, under change screen res the monitor is shown as a CRT.
When i install the graphics card driver the progress bar sits there for about 8 minutes at 50% complete. Is it trying to identify the monitor?

Processor: AMD Athlon Dual Core 3800
RAM: 2GB
Graphics Card: Palit 8600GT
MoBo: K8 Triton GA-K8NF-9
Monitor: Hanon L-1715
O/S: Vista 64bit Ultimate

Heres hoping......
