Not wanting to become part of the lottery with the 226BW, it seemed like an eternity waiting for the 226CW! Although they don't advertise it, Best Buy had some in stock so I picked one up yesterday.

The monitor is FANTASTIC!

I did not really see a great deal of improvement with the 97% color gamut but it was marginally better than the BW. The backlighting was uniform with no color issues. I adjusted the brightness to 12%, contrast 65%, and sharpness to 70% and that was it. Truely plug and play.

There are no more "letters" on the back of the monitor's panel. This is a good sign that Samsung, and only Samsung, will be manufacturing these panels.

That's why for $30 more, get the CW which is superior and a guarenteed Samsung panel.

Hey I was wondering what the input possibilities are for the new monitor? Is it only DVI and VGA like most? Also, do you know of any 22" monitors with composite or component inputs?

It is only DVI and VGA. If you want an LCD with composite or component inputs you could buy a more expensive HDTV panel.

What's this lottery thing all about? I'm looking at these 2 monitors as well.

If you order the 226BW it is possible you will get one of 3 (maybe 4?) panels. They are refferred to as the S, A, and C panels. The S is awesome, the A is really good and the C is substandard. There is no way to know when you order which one you will receive and it is hard to tell which you have received also. Some have said that Samsung is only sending S panels now, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Thanks.

Any of the new stock models are all S panels. I ordered mine from Newegg 2 days ago with a July 2007 mfg date, cracked it open, and checked the serial number of the panel.

Are you sure the new ones manufactured are S panels. I just ordered one from New Egg and am extremely nervous.
