Has anyone replaced the LCD screen itself? Any luck? I tried replacing the inverter but no good. Is the backlight located withing the LCD? Is it accessible?

Yes, the backlight is located directly behind the LCD. You'll have to open up the frame to access it though.

I understand that changing the back light is very tricky and shouldn't be attempted by a novice. If I replace the lcd screen, will this solve the problem? The laptop displays perfectly using an external monitor. I don't want to invest in an LCD screen if that isn't the problem. Thanks for your help.
