Try re-installing the Audio Drivers from Acer's website and see if that helps. Windows may have updated and installed later drivers, so you can also try rolling back yuor drivers to a previously installed driver from an earlier date.

i would agree with JRock i had the same problem on my old netbook and it turned out that the drivers had uninstalled or were out of date. You should do driver checks regularly to keep your pc performing at its best.
