Eee pc netbook overheat

Forum Mobile Computing : General Mobile Computing Eee pc netbook overheat

My Eee PC 1000HA seems to be on the verge of overheating. At times, it does overheat and the display is not functional or extremely distorted. How do I fix this? I'm running the Linux OS Jolicloud.

Make sure the fans are not blocked with dust, don't use it on pillows, etc...

If it's in warranty you may want to exchange it to make sure the fans and heatsinks are working properly.

See if there's a BIOS update and if so, install it. Check in the BIOS to see if there are options for a "low-power mode" or something like that.

I don't think RMClock or similar underVolting software is compatible with Atom processors, but...

This has some tips for helping Atoms run at lower clock speeds when idle: linky
