More Information

Laptop won't be used for games (not a gamer). Mainly for school work (word processing), internet browsing, watching movies, music and running photoshop. I was currently looking at the HP Pavilion dv5t, but here is the following information:

1_What is your budget?
$1,000

2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

15.4 inch screen (widescreen)

3_What screen resolution http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/display_resolution do you want?
Oh geez...humm 1280x800

4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deskt [...] t_computer laptop?
Laptop

5_How much battery life http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battery do you need?

I'd say 3hrs would be good. I won't be using it during lecture but I would like it to have enough battery life for when I can't sit near a power outlet when I am in the library or places such as a coffee shop.

6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
NO games.

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, surfing the web, playing music, watching movies, Etc.)
Photoshop, surfing the web (youtube), movies, word processing.

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?

Most laptops come with enough. Not worried about this one.

9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them.
HP.com, Dell.com, newegg.com, bestbuy.com

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop?
4-5yrs

11_If you would like to mention some other things about purchasing your ideal laptop, post them.

I wouldn't want it to be bulky and heavy. I carry heavy textbooks as it is. I want it to be light and aesthetically pleasing. Being able to control heat is also good since there might be times when I will have it on for a long time but considering that I won't use it for gaming I shouldn't haven't a problem, I think. Oh and a sturdy built.

12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

I like HPs and Dells. I don't like Acer, Sony or Fujitsu. I have heard that Asus are very good machines but their designs are ugly! But if I can come across an inexpensive Asus then I might consider it :)

13_What country do you live in?
USA

Yeah, either a Dell Vostro, or an Asus if you can find a decently priced one, most are above your range...

There's that, in which the only thing I'm worried about is the slower hard drive (5400rpm) along with an unknown battery life. And it's pushing the edges of your budget :p
