Hello, I am new to this forum. I was wandering if anyone had or has an alienware area 51 mlx (laptop). From what I have heard on reselleratings alienware is very good (and yes I do know it is expensive but my macbook I bought for even more than what the area 51 m15x cost) and I am just going to buy the stabdard $1500 configuration. And please don't tell me to build a computer, I am just not simply doing it. Please be honest!

I do not own one, but I talked to their tech support when I was researching my notebook. The basic attitude I got was that unless I was willing to shell out money, they didn't want to talk to me. Major turn off. The standard config is pretty basic and over priced. For the same money you can buy a Sager NP2092 with a faster processor, more RAM and a faster HDD. With the Sager you can also choose between Vista or XP.

Personally the m15x is way overpriced for its components. For less than the m15x you could get the Gateway P-6860FX. It sells at Best Buy (online also) for $1350. It has a significantly more powerful graphics card, more RAM (4 Gb), and more HDD space(320Gb vs. 120Gb). The only downside is its slightly less powerful processor (1.83Ghz vs. 2.1Ghz), which in most cases will not make a significant difference.
