More Information

I have just reformatted my HD using the Restore CDs that came with my Compaq Presario 6029 US. Running Windows XP Home Edition. Upon using the first CD in the reformatting process, I read in the BIOS information page that displays in the beginning of the run of the first CD: REDREG error..."failed to find ESCD info"
I cannot get anyone at Compaq/HP to identify what or why I am getting this error. Does anyone in this forum have a clue?

I also see I have no hidden partition. Does this mean I should; does this mean I will have problems in the future because I don't have a hidden partition? What is the purpose of a hidden partition? Can anyone answer this? Compaq tech (benefit of doubt there) tells me once my hidden partition is lost it cannot be restored. Is this a bad thing or is he incorrect?
Thanks to all you GURUS in cyberland out there. Keep expanding your minds!!! Cowboy...
