Just upgraded my computer. I have an ASUS A7V8X-X mobo running AMD2500+Barton. I have 2 HDs, a 30GB with my old Win98 OS which I want to use for now and a new 80GB (not yet partioned) drive which I will put XP on soon. I hooked up my harddrives to the primary IDE channel with the 30GB in line first set as master and the 80GB second set as slave. My CDROM is the only device on the secondary IDE channel and is set at master. The BIOS is set to autodetect on each channel. During boot-up it detects both HDs and then my CDROM spins up and it detects Secondary Master: CD-ROM TW120D. Then, on the next screen (system summary, or system configuration i think? - with all the info written in a box) It lists the primary master and slave as the HDs but under secondary master and slave it lists NONE. If I let it boot to Windows my CDROM is not listed as a drive.

Any thoughts?

New twist... If I boot with startup disk then I have cdrom access (i can read a CD in the drive). If I then try to load windows I get a "VFAT" error and the systems halts.
