I just recently finished building my computer and loading XP, but my floppy drive does not work. The device manager acknowledges that I have one and even says its working properly but I don't see the light come on when I boot up. Could it be because I don't have a word processor loaded yet? PLease advise. Thanks guys and gals.

Try turning the floppy cable around.

make sure cable plugged in fully and power connected. Floppy light would probably be illuminated all the time if cable reversed.

Can you go into the bios and copy down ALL settings associated with the floppy(s) and put them up here?

Or, does it just work and the light doesn't?
