Where can I buy broken laptops and desktop in bulk in Scotland or in the UK apart from eBay?

Get a contract with one of the large companies in your area to take away their redundant boxes. You'll wear several pairs of shoes getting round the area knocking on doors but it could be worth it. Lots of what's thrown out isn't broken at all.

although its ridiculous local schools dump loads of perfectly good laptops and desktops when they upgrade

my mate has had about 100 laptops from local schools in his area in the last year and 90% were in perfectly good working order and of reasonably good spec

he didnt pay a penny for them--the school was more interested in not having to pay some one to dispose of them

That would be incredible in any economic cycle - far more so in the current one. I get annoyed at the local school which is lit up like a beacon at all hours throughout the night on the flimsy ground of security. If anything it would be easier to break into with the help of all that light!

yeah its totally ludicrous--he only found out about it when some one who works at the school told him they kept all the old it equipment in a shed till they had a pile of them and they then paid a local scrap merchant to come and collect them all--so they were paying some one to remove items that my mate has been auctioning for between £70 and £100 each

as soon as he offered to remove them for free they almost tripped over themselves to get them out of there

they dont even remove or format the hard drives which is also crazy from a security stand point

i used to work at compaq 15 years ago and they would give half of their redundant stuff to charities--but the other half they would stand there and make me smash up with a hammer--and in those days the stuff was seriously expensive--the most expensive simm modules were thousands of pounds on their own
