I'd like to know if any of you tried it and if it's stable. Also does it improve performances or anything in 3D games? I'll be waiting for your feedbacks |

I installed it yesterday and am getting about 4 extra frames in UT. Seems to work just fine.

Unfortunately Matrox hasn't released DX8 optimized drivers so to me there is no difference.

hm...dx8 sped up my start up...that may just be coincidence. it also stoped opengl from working for me in half-life. it works for me in homeworld though so i don't think it's dx's problem. i am, however, getting better frame rates than ever in half-life (and subsequent mods) in d3d.

It might be a weirdy with HL because my HL stopped working OpenGL under FX7 after I updated my Nvidia drivers. I was hoping going to DX8 might get it back.

I haven't seen any problems with dx8 and the new v5 5500 drivers in any games. |

DX8 works fine on the graphics arena, but it totally messed up my Audio set-up. I could not get Audio working unless I reinstalled windows totally.

Been using it for 3 weeks and it seems fine so far no problems encountered.

I played with the Beta for awhile. It did run faster than 7 and gave some nice extra frames in Ultima 9 (which if anyone knows about Ultima 9 how precious every frame is. Who's fault is it??? The world may never know...)

After installing DX8 and finding problems, is it possible to uninstall 8 and reinstall 7a? The Microsoft website says 8 cannot be uninstalled because it is a system component, but it doesn't say you can't back up to 7. There is a DX uninstaller at Tweaktown.com but it says it works to uninstall 7 & 6.

OK, I'll ask again, does DirectX 8 work with the SB Live family of soundcards?

I doubt dx8 will have any effect on my Voodoo II running on 3dfx beta drivers for Windows 2000. I'm thinking about getting a Radeon. |

Bubba, I have a soundblaster Live! Value card and have been using DX8 for 3 weeks now without any kind of problems. As for speed increase/decrease I haven't noticed any, guess my box is just to darned fast to notice |

I have an A7V and an old old old ATI Rage Pro and, yes, a soundblaster Live! x gamer 5.1. Absolutely no problems in Win98SE. I thought that there might be a problem since I have an old video card, but that is not the case. I am not sure if performance is better, because I don't look at any framerates that I get in any games. |
