HDMI problem

Forum General UK & Ireland Discussions : HDMI problem

Word :    Username :

Hello,
I have a Windows XP pc and have it plugged into my T.V via HDMI. picture and sound on T.V is fine but while plugged in and not using the T.V I am unable to adjust my regular monitor resolution unless I unplug the HDMI cable. The P.C resolution changes to a very low setting form the regular 1280X1024 resolution without warning if I shut the P.C down and restart/turn on later.

Any help much appreciated

Could you let us have some details on your HW such as what graphics card you are using as this might help us to understand what is going on. Also how is your monitor connected?

Could this happen if the second screen was used as an extension rather than a separate entity?

Sure the GPU is a Radeon HD5450, connected to my 1080P HD TV via HDMI cable. The PC monitor is connected to the PC as per normal
