I reformated my hds and installed Windows2000. But, when I tried to install MS Office, one time it came up with an error, once with a blue screen with an error message(not normal BSOD), and then many times the computer just restarted itself.

Later, I installed my CDburner and tried installing with that and the 3rd problem occured several times and a couple times it finished, but Outlook didn't work (it came up with and .exe error). With the CDburner a couple times it came up with the error of not finding a file.

Then, I tried to install UT2k3 and it just restarted.

The first cd drive I used is pretty old and was making some wierd noises while installing Windows2000, so my thoughts could be that windows was screwed up when it was installing and is causing these problems

I also noticed when it restarted after trying to install UT2k3 it said this on the Dos screen at one point: Starting up with Atapi CD

Any help you could give me would really be appreciated.

Well thats certainly a valid culprit... and the most obvious way to troubleshoot would be to use a different drive on the same cable. If it works, then its obviously the drive at fault.

Do you have any other optical drives, or just the burner?
