More Information

Hi,
I am considering buying a DVD writer and I am left a little confused about what format/file type will be the standard and which is best for writing home video/pictures that will play on a TV set top DVD player. I will also be using it for a re-write for backups and images and for copying movies. I would appreciate any opinions and/or links on the hardware, software, especially from amateur home video enthusiasts and others who have used this gear to copy movies.

( I posted same question at <A HREF="http://www.btvillarin.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=868" target="_new">www.btvillarin.com forums</A> )

Hmm, I hope that the Sony you bought is the one I am thinking of:
Sony has a DVD-writer which does both standards:
DVD-r(w) and DVD+r(w).
I that's not the one you bought, why don't you try to bring back the one you bought and replace it by the multi-standard one?
