hi, i just put together a new system and I'm having problems with my cdrom reading cd's.
I have a Pioneer DVD-RW drive and a 52x creative cdrom drive.
my computer will let me use the pioneer drive but whenever i use my creative drive it just spits the cd write out. Please help I like to listen to music while i'm playing a game. 1st I set the cdrom to slave and I switched the pioneer to master but the creative still wouldn't read anything. then I set the creative as a master and I put it on IDE 2 and left my pioneer drive On ide 1 and it still wouldn't let me read anything on my creative cdrom, windows detects it but it won't use. i have a feeling it is an IRQ problem but I don't know.

I JUST had a simmiliar problem with the same 52X Creative CD-ROM. The only difference was that my cd-rom read everything as a music cd. LOL. I changet the cd-rom and had no problems since. My guess is that you may have a bad drive. It doesn't sound like an IRQ problem to me. Good luck. Take care.

Hang in there. It can only get better!

i had a problem with a creative 52x cdrom drive. It would spin up, read nothing, spin again, read nothing, over and over. My solution? I replaced it with a mitsumi 48x cdrom drive and i've had no problems with it in over 2 years. I'd take that creative drive and throw it out the window.

Im Old. Ive experienced CGA.
