I have both and artec 16X DVD drive and an artec 32*24*48cdrw. Each of them work great as long as they're my only cd drive, but when I put 'em in together (as I really intend them to be), the dvd player doesn't always register discs. I pop the disc in, it spins and spins, and then stops, and won't even acknowledge the existence of the disc. It works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't, and I havn't found any pattern to it.

I have my dvd as a slave to my harddrive on IDE1, and the cdrw is a master by itsself on IDE2. Any ideas or suggestions to get 'em both to work consistently?

Why don't you try changing your configuration to making the Hardrive Master of the Primary IDE, the CDRW Master of the Secondary IDE with the DVD as Slave on the Secondary IDE using at least ATA66 cables for the Secondary IDE, thats how mine is set up with no problems. I also second elzt's jumper check suggestion. Ryan
