I just bought a pair of B&W 802 Matrix series 3 and have a question,
does anyone (or did anyone) ever use these speakers for mixing pop
music of any kind? Funny thing is that most of the classical stuff i hear
played through them sounds good (great sound stage etc.), jazz stuff is
also ok but the pop or rock music ...

What i want to know is if you can say they simply don't work with
pop/rock music but work fine for classical stuff? (with work i mean that
the sound they represent gives you an idea of a usable sound to produce)

I have. But I'm not really a rock guy.

They aren't exciting. They don't have a huge presence peak and exaggerated
bass. If you're used to listening to pop music this way, it will take a lot
to get used to what it sounds like on comparatively flat speakers.

Either you'll start to like it or you won't. But you will hear all sorts of
things on the 801 that get masked by more-exciting-sounding speakers.
