The Gforce4 MX series of video cards do not support DirectX 8 and above or Open GL, I would suggest taking back the card and getting your money back. See if you can't find a Gforce3 TI series 200 or 500, at http://www.pricewatch.com for about the same money. Or move on up to the Gforce4 TI series either 4200,4400, or 4600 cards, but they're more expensive. Hope this helps Ryan.

Thanks for the info, I checked the box the card came in and it says designed to whql comp standards and then lists opengl icd 4 windows xp, 2000, 98, 95, nt. also complete linux display and opengl drivers support. The box also says under features, Microsoft directx optimizations. as this stuff is all new to me it would seem that the card clearly supports these two items. The card is a PNY Tech Verto Geforce4 MX 420 64mb sdram.

Well I stand corrected, they must have made some hardware additions to the new cards, from all the complaints they had received, and the cards they had to take back from angry customers. Toms Hardware Guide posted an article on the GF4 MX cards when they first hit the market, its in the Graphic guide at the bottom of this page, thats where I got the information from. I was not trying to mislead you. Ryan
