Apple slams MPEG 4 licensing terms
Published on February 14, 2002Apple is freezing distribution of Quicktime 6.0, the latest version of its streaming media client, in protest at licensing terms demanded by the MPEG-LA, to impose client and per use fees for MPEG 4.The company says the licensing terms, which would mean paying royalties everytime a download is played, is unreasonable.
