That vendor is selling pirate DVB receivers to tohe intent onstealing
Nagra encrypted channels.

The truth is that the Pansat 2500 and its Fortec cousin don't have
Nagra security, just hacked firmware to steal nagra encrypted
programming.

so that's why a lot of Ebay sellers are advertising the Pansat 2500 and
Fortecs as "blackbird" receivers,eh?

They sure do, and do it well!

The best part of this deal is the 2500 and ULTRA are awesome
receivers. When Nagra2 hits in a few months, the freeTV'rs will regard
them as an old F, H or HU card. In other words, worthless.
I for one can't wait to have twenty or so 2500's on my rack!!

Isn't Nagra what Dish uses and didn't they change cards a year or so
ago? Was that Nagra 2? Are they backward compatable since they
didn't replace existing cards? Will they replace all cards if
"Nagra2" is implemented?

Yes, Dish (and ExpressVu) use Nagra. Neither have implemented a major
card swap that I am aware of. Both providers are issuing the N2 cards
with new receivers and built in tothe "cardless" units. They are dual
transmitting N1 and N2 streams right now, I don't think the N2 card
has backward compatability with the N1 stream.
