bad link.

So you're saying that Tivo will pay you $50 to take a machine?

Not quite.

You must purchase one year of service (which is fine...Series 2 boxes are
nothing without subscription). The ETF for cancellation is...$150.

You should know better than to post a censored URL (one with ... in it).

I'm wondering about that too. I picked up a 40-hour unit at Good Guys
over the weekend as a second unit. They were selling them at $49.
$199 with an in-store $150 rebate.

Two days later I read about this rebate. Looking at all the rebate
rules, it looks like I get $100 back on this deal.

http://www.tivorebates.com/promoce [...] bate.html?
campaignCode=05-33817

Terms and Conditions:
(1) TiVo® Series2TM Digital Video Recorder must be purchased between
9/04/05 and 11/27/05, inclusive. Products purchased before or after these
dates are not eligible for the rebate offer. Purchase date is determined by
invoice or receipt date. Rebate may not be combined with any other TiVo
offers, including in-store instant rebate on certain TiVo models.

"Including in-store instant rebate on certain TiVo models."

(14) Limit one rebate per eligible TiVo Series2™ Digital Video Recorder and
DVD product.

I wouldn't spend that $100 just yet. It's bad enough to count one's
chickens before they hatch...but counting golf balls as eggs is sure to
lead to disappointment.

I figured it was too good to be true. I just hadn't noticed that part
in the rebate forms.

I will still have to do some checking. The receipt does not mention a
rebate, just lists the price at $49, and the ad does not say it's a
TIVO rebate.
