Voltron and Thundercats get my vote! They were and are still my favorite. I watched a few episodes of both a month or two ago and I still like them; they aren't as retarded as the cartoons kids are watching now-a-days. I was also really mad when I realized how much Power Rangers (which I hate with a passion) is such a ripoff of Voltron.

Next week someone is going to tell you that Santa Claus does not exist and is actually a rip off too. Don't be mad at him/her ok?

I'm sorry, just ignore my rantings. I will leave you all for a good debate on this topic. I'm desperately in need of some alcoholic relaxation.

Hello.

Just so you folks know, there have been two animated Robotech movies released. The Shadow Chronicles was recently released and have won many awards.

Then again, Macross was an animated movie back in 1984.

Technical correction: Power rangers have existed since the 1970's.

Voltron's roots can be also be traced back to the 1970's, but not in such a direct fashion..

Robotech FTW!!!!

We've already seen what a GIJoe type movie would be like.
At its best it could be another Mortal Kombat type movie.
At its worst it would be another Street Fighter.
I mean humans running around with masks and facial deformities isn't really interesting with alternatives like Robotech around.

Ummmm DBZ? For the most part, earth-like main characters. Its only seen cartoon movies so a RL full feature film would be the shitz0rz. It would sell more tickets worldwide than any of the 10 mentioned in this article (maybe even combined).

Although Tygra is nasty-hott! I would love to see a RL tygra. Thundercats or DBZ = huge.

If it ain't broken, modd it!

Considering that Macross spinoffs, movies, and books never stopped appearing, I'd say that 'Robotech' (the badly hacked US version of Macross) don't need a movie, or said movie would need to be even better than Macross:Do You Remember Love not to be flamed by those who would actually be interested byt this stuff. Moreover, they'd need to do away with this 'Protoculture' as energy source nonsense.

Too bad, because it'd probably the least cheesy of all due to the story not being actually centered on the mechs - but on the love triangle, the annihilation of Earth and the music (I know, they used only 2 Minmay songs in Robotech while you had a dozen original songs in Macross - talk about a cheap porting).

Of course, the actual transformation of the Valkyries VF-1 would look great in CGI, especially with the fact that said transformation was carefully drafted by the original Variable Fighter designer - who actually learnt technical drawing before he started his career in anime.

Wow, as a child of the 80's (7 to 17) I must say that that list just sucks. I dont even know half the toys. My list would be somethin like this (not in order).

Voltron
RoboTech
StarBlazers
Gi Joe
Lothar the Barbarian
He-Man
thunderCats
Dungeons and Dragons (a REAL one)
Jetsons
Johny Quest

Lets see, M.A.S.K. was the coolest one on there IMO... although seeing that as a movie.. *shiver* unless it's a fully animated movie, no thanks, the level of gay that could come of live action from that goes beyond San Francisco!

Anyways, in a GI Joe movie would they also have everyone fire a bunch of shots all over the place and no one gets hit ever?
