Hey guys, I just encountered a strange shut down I've never seen before. My computer was running under a minimum load (just browsing the net) and it cut out with no warning, stayed off for 5-10 seconds and then switched itself back on. I had the same issue about a month ago which I thought was to do with my poor cable management. The cable from the PSU to the MoBo had a lot of tension so i figured it could have been slipping. Anyway I sorted that out and had no issues until today. Anyway, I'm pretty stumped and wondering if anyone has any ideas. Here's my system specs:

ASUSTek Computer INC. P8P67

Intel Core i7 2600k (clocked at 4.0)

Samsung Hd103SJ

Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT

Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz CL9 1.5V Non-ECC Unbuffered

Be Quiet 600w Straight Power ATX

Windows 7 home 64.

My initial thought was that your CPU was unstable due to the clock speed. However, I quickly discarded this though as I've seen multiple i7s at that clock speed. My second thought was the motherboard. I too have an ASUS board which seems to struggle sometimes.

Also, I too have experienced what you're describing. Not long ago, my PC was running idle when it suddenly cut-out then rebooted itself.

Have you installed anything new recently?

Hey,

I recently installed League of legends and thats about it. I have it on other computers with no problem what so ever. I have narrowed the problem down to hardware. I have a pretty strong feeling that because it cuts out without warning it is either bad ram or the psu. Most cpu issues (i reset the clock back to standard btw) invoke a blue screen of sorts. The fact that there is no warning what so ever makes me lean towards psu more. Any thoughts??

Leave a copy of memtest86 running overnight and see if it throws anything up. Just to clarify if you've been OC'ing the CPU were you also running the RAM at higher speed than default? I know you've clocked the CPU back but did you double check the RAM speeds?
