Hey folks - a question...

I just added Replay #3 to the household. It's connected to a
Comcast/Motorola DCT2224 cable box. The TV that we're using does *not*
respond to any remote controls (that part broke years ago) so we've been
using the cable box to do everything (mute, volume, channels.) Now, with
the Replay in the loop we have to use two remotes (Replay and cable box) to
accomplish everything - not the best solution. So, the question...

Are there known codes that can be given to the Replay remote that will
enable it to change mute & volume on the cable box (not the TV)? Does
anyone know what they are? I gave the Replay the Motorola codes in the
Replay manual and it changes the channel on the cable box just fine but no
volume stuff. Thoughts?

Sounds like that would really mess up automatic recordings. Consider
that the change would affect what's being recorded now, rather than
what you're playing.

None of those would work here. Notice he said that part of that TV had
broke (it would be kind of like expecting deaf people to hear you if
you spoke loud enough). Anyway, a cable box with volume control should
be left of high (or some other suitable setting) so as to avoid
interfering with recordings.

A seperate audio system connected to the Replay would work (make sure
it has a standard audio input). Some of these are likely to cost less
than a new TV.
