My wireless adapter is faulty

Forum Wireless Networking : General Discussion My wireless adapter is faulty

Hey guys. I'm trying to figure out why I keep losing an internet connection.

My first thought was check the router. I did, and it seems fine. No one else is having this problem. Next I tried updating the drivers for the wireless adapter. They did need updating but it has not solved the problem. So I have now done several virus scans in the last few weeks, and while a few viruses have ben picked up and taken out, the problem still remains.

A little description on the problem:

My wireless adapter, I'm assuming, is failing. What it will do is no matter what router, location, or power setting I am on, I usually get about 5 minutes (if that) of connectivity and then its like it shuts down completely. I have to disable the wireless, and ten reenable it to get it working again, then at best, I might get another 5 minutes. The longest I've had was an hour about a month ago.

I can say this makes doing homework for school a problem when my homework is through a online company.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ57 and I believe I have Windows 7 installed on it.

If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it....

What type of security encryption are you using WEP or WPA?

I would take it back and get another adapter. It sounds like it is failing.
