Why when windows controls my wireless connection do i get wireless lag but not o

Hello, Ive seen a tutorial on how to fix a USB wireless lag problem, i have a PCI wireless lag problem, it came with Tenda Utility and Driver, installed them, wouldn't renew I.P so i couldn't use that, used windows Zero configuration for Xp, connected fine, but in game (Cod 4) say every minute it would freeze for 2 - 3 seconds, so i went back and downloaded the Ralink Utility and Driver over the top of Tenda (Card manufactored by Ralink) and still wouldn't renew I.P so i gave up on that (Would love any help on solving that too please) But i am quite happy for Windows to manage it, runs smooth apart from the lag, so i googled round and found this tutorial on this

Did the ping test thing it said to see if i had same problem on my PCI and i seem to, here are my results:

Ping statistics for 192.168.1.254:
Packets: Sent = 227, Received = 227, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 1ms, maximum = 1706, Average = 20

Can someone help me with a PCI version of this problem please?
