I have a NT-USB54M Wireless USB adapter. Ubuntu Linux recognizes it without prompt but windows requires a driver that is nowhere to be found any longer. I doubt i-micro (the company that makes this product) has made a driver for Linux so how is it possible for Ubuntu to recognize it? Is there a generic driver that would work with Windows XP? Thanks in advance.

Try to download the driver from the CD that came with it, or from the manufacturer's website. Windows is very popular and it is highly unlikely that there is no Windows driver.

Contact their tech support too.

I think that adapter uses Realtek USB 2.0 drivers.

That will only work for windows vista, I tried searching the same site and @ realtek's site for an XP version but no luck.

Gah! Proprietary .rar! Can't decompress!

The linux version of 7zip would work but the windows one did! But now the Hardware Update Manager wont recognize any of the files contained within as the driver.

Btw, thank you for holding my hand though this and being patient.
