[Solved] No internet dns when connected to VPN

DSL internet connection - linksys wireless router E1550
When connected to work VPN (using Cisco AnyConnect client - split tunneling), I lose internet DNS, cannot resolve by name, but can by IP. Can disconnect from VPN, internet works fine. Can disconnect from linksys router and connect directly to DSL modem, VPN and internet work fine. How do I correct this on the router? Thanks.

This problem is not with your router, it is with your work VPN setup. When you are connected to the VPN all DNS requests will be tunneled through it.

But I can disconnect the router, connect directly to the dsl modem, connect to the VPN, and DNS works for internet. I figured this would rule out the work VPN setup.

OK then, you should have someone at your work IT check the split tunneling settings. My experience is that split tunneling causes more problems than it solves.
