I am attempting to add my HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printer to my HP elite book. The printer is showing up in control panel as being my default printer. It is showing up as being offline, even though the drop down menu does not show it as being offline. No printers are listed in the device manager. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Your printers will not show up in the Device Manager, they are only in Devices and Printers control panel.

HERE is a very good guide for setting up a wireless connection for your printer.

Thanks. I have set up the printer on a couple of other laptops and it works fine. For some reason, on this particular laptop in the control panel, the printer is showing up as offline. I can't change it to online. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If Windows 7, run the Printer Troubleshooter, run through the whole thing and it will restart the print spooler for the printer, which is a frequent cause. In XP you can often fix this by going to Start/Settings/Printers and Faxes/File and click on use printer offline.

You also may need to delete and reinstall the printer drivers/software on that machine.
