Can not get dell latitude D810 wireless setup to work no gateway information

We can not find the gateway on our Dell Latitude D810 we were able to locate the IP address and Subnet Mask however the Gateway info does not come up we have tried various times to connect to a hotspot no problem with our Dell Latitude D620 and the Function Key plus the F4 key does not bring up the wireless prompt.

Could the laptop be defective or are we doing something wrong?

Doubtfull. I'm assuming that you are trying to find the gateway through your wireless card yes? Try and connect using a physical connection and record the IP, subnet, and gateway the DHCP router has given it.

If this does not work, try and use a computer that already has a successful connection and log its gateway. Then go back to the other computer and create a static connection using your own IP, subnet, and the gateway from the working computer.

If you can, log into your router and reserve a DHCP slot just for the non-working computer so when you enable the static connection, the router will make sure that noone else is currently using that IP.
