I have a HP laptop and it can connect to internet in the public places. However, when I am home using my used wireless router, I could not go to internet. The router has passwords set by the previous owner, unfortunately I cannot use them to go to internet. I have used the reset buttom (the router is LINKSYS), and still could not go to internet. The laptop Internet options - properties - they are checked "automatically". Therefore I think the problem is my router. Please HELP!

First, do you have an internet provider and modem?

Second, hard reset the router and you will be able to re-set the user name and pass.
