Hello, i was having probs with the daughters dell laptop wireless setup, was intermitent, downloaded latest drivers, went to set up the conection, im running 128 bit wep and the damn software will only take the first 9 digits, driving me nuts. any ideas, i have 8 other wireless devices running of this so i dont want to have to change settings on all of them, thanks

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

It should help if you turn off the Dell utility and let Windows run the wireless connection. 9 characters is an odd number - no pun intended - even if Dell's utility thought it was looking at WPA it would only accept eight. Can you do a recount?

i know its strange, but its deffinatly 9. its set up for shared 64bit wep, should be 10 digits, but will only let me input 9

ok i'm an idiot, i figured it out, the last digit in the key is 5, the 5 key on the laptop dosent work, ie 9 digits, yep, im a stooge.
