Frys fr-54rtr/dlink dir600a1 dd-wrt - guide me through it???

Forum Wireless Networking : General Discussion Frys fr-54rtr/dlink dir600a1 dd-wrt - guide me through it???

I have a frys fr 54rtr which is a rebranded dlink dir600a1 (apparently both compatible with dd-wrt from what I'm told

I'm looking to turn the wireless router into a repeater or bridge from another router

Is this possible?

If not, would it still be worth it to install dd-wrt on the router?

How would I go about doing it?

What if I "Brick" the router?

It only cost me $20 so no real loss, but I'm very frugal and don't want to buy another router when I already have one!

I also have a netbook with an atheros 9285 (coincidentally the same as the router) which I plan to get an alfa card for - can I possibly use the netbook as a repeater or bridge? With 1 or 2 cards?

Thanks for reading, any help appreciated!

If you have confirmed that they are compatible with DD-WRT then start reading here for installation --> http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation
