Hey guys,

I have a Gigabyte router and a gigabyte Network card in my pc - but Im only connected at 100mbps.

Just wondering if this is what I should be expecting or if not, how can configure it properly?

(and as a side note, Im on a 10mbps broadband, so should expect download rates of around 1.2 MB/s but my steam downloads hover around 250-300 KB/s, any ideas?)

Thanks!

Try setting your NIC to 1000/full duplex mode. You can do this from Device Manager.

Try a different cable also. Download is also dependent on the service. Do a speedtest from www.dslreports.com or somewhere.

My Device Manager settings only allow up to 100 full :S

Cable is CAT 6, so should be fine :)

Speedtest: 9.95mbps

Ok, so you have a 100mbps nic, not a gigabit one. Maybe you meant Gigabyte as in the brand?

Nope, my mobo supports 10/100/1000mbps (http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=Z68%20Extreme4%20Gen3&cat=Specifications)

Edit: Thought this might be referring to the PCI slot.. which if it does, I do have a 1000mbps network card in another machine.. Ill install that and see if the setting is available!
