what and how do i need to connect my tv to recieve netflix using my router and hdtv wirelessly /have broadband and netgear router/ how will my tv pick up the signal from the router which is upstairs

You need a netflix capable device. There are lots of devices that support and play netflix. You don't list your TV make and model so I can only assume.

But once you have a device that can play back netflix you only need to hook it up to your network in order to stream netflix. That can be done either wirelessly or hardwired typically. Again, depends on the type of netflix device you're using.
