Local File Sync

Forum General Networking : LAN/WAN Local File Sync

I am looking for a good software solution to create a Dropbox-like sync between my desktop and laptop. In other words, when I modify the files in a particular folder on one computer I want the changes to be automatically synced to the local disk on the other computer (I don't want to have to be accessing my files from a network share -- I want local access to them once downloaded). If it would be easier to set something like this up through a server, I do have an old computer lying around that could be re-purposed for such a task. Thoughts?

You can try microsoft live sync which is now part of windows live (mesh). It only works on vista and 7 though.

Sorry, my bad. I should have mentioned that I dual boot Win7 and Linux (Mint) on both machines, so cross-platform would be preferable.
