Hello,
setting up a linksys router with dsl Modem.
laptop direct to modem works
router connected dhcp to laptop Eth. port 1 OK
router to modem dhcp does not generate DNS
but appears to give IP address.
result: can't connect to internet / diagnosis says
cannot resolve ( google.com or yahoo.com etc.)

please advise

Plug the modem into the WAN (or "Uplink" ) port of the router, not a numbered port.
