Hello,
I have two d link 604 and want to connect both together so that any pc connected to the repeater can connect to the internet.
I am running win xp sp3,p4,2gb,asus p4p800-vm with all updates and firmware of router updated.
Need help in layman terms regarding dhcp, dns, gateway and so on.
Zone alarm firewall enabled in all pc.

Thanks for your patience with a newbie like me!

Connect just the computer used for setup to one of the lan ports of the "slave" router.
On the "slave" router, on the Home tab, select from the options wizard, wan, lan, dhcp.
Choose lan
set the ip address to 192.168.0.2 (default is 192.168.0.1)
click apply
wait
Now choose dhcp
on the line: dhcp server Enabled Disabled select on disabled.
click apply again
wait again
Now use another of the lan ports to connect to the "master" router.
By this process, you increase available lan ports from 4 to 6.
For every DI-604 you add, you will gain two lan ports

GOOOOD NEWS!! IT WORKED YYYEEEEAAA :bounce: :) :hello:
I never thought that i should connect both cables (from pc port and master router lan )to the 2 lan ports of the slave router cos i always considered that the slave router (Wan port ,for uplink use) should connect to the master router (Lan port) .
Thank you soooo much..it has been bugging me for a week now and i tried all sort of combinations and at times,i could not even access the slave router itself from my pc for no apparent reason and worst of all, after the reset button is pressed,it did not work or reset itself and that made me cautious that i might have irrevocably pushed the config too far..
In any case, thank you so much and if you are in need of stress relieve tips,i can help with simple meditation advice.Have a nice day!

My pleasure. I have retired from Convergys, where I used to help Comcast customers with connectivity issues, over the telephone.

It was good training.
