I have the EasyN4 router installed on a 3GHz 4Mb RAM 64 bit Vista PC and the N2LX receiver is installed on a Win2K Pro 2.7GHz 4Mb RAM PC.
Both Rosewill units installed w/Rosewill disks/wizard.
All drivers updated per Rosewill site.
Vista PC connects to internet and all is well.
Win2K PC will not connect to internet even though signal strength meter and link quality read 100%.
What am I overlooking?
Beats me. I just ran the install disks and anything other than what it asked me for was set at a default. I understand DUH and WTF but not WEP and WPA. I made the ignorant assumption that this stuff was Plug and Play. Help appreciated.
O.K., I've had a dialog with Rosewill's tech support and they said that they thought their adapter was incompatible with the router.
Even though NewEgg is selling them as a pair.
Their next guess was that the adapter was defective.
They're sending me a replacement and said just to toss the old one. Guess that shows how highly they value their ***.
I consider this thread closed, just like my chances of buying a Rosewill product again.
I figured out what to do with my adapter. I bought a 110v to USB converter plug for $2.46 and am screwing the RNX-N2LX unit next to my shop door and routing the USB cable to the converter plug inside. The pretty blue light flashes and looks like I have a wireless alarm system installed. Source:
