I put two different set of speakers into both the front and back ports of the computer and all i get is 1 speaker working yet my head phones work fine Can you help me. I am running XP on an AMD board. I have downloaded the new ac97 driver but have not uninstalled the old?

Check that you have your surround sound setup checked on your pc, i had the same problem sometime ago and didnt realise i had to set the sound on my pc, check sound option on your sound card.

Some motherboards are designed so that when a plug goes in the front socket, the rear one cuts out, assuming the front to be headphones.
