Intel 4000

Ok so I built a rig for a church that had the intention of hooking up three displays to the intel HD 4000 graphics. I built it around a i5-3570k and a biostar z77 board that has a hdmi dvi and vga output.....the problem is that I cannont get all three displays working...the dvi is to a monitor the hdmi is to a hd tv and the vga is to an older projector.....I can only get two displays working at a time. I looked it up and I got something that to get three displays working you would have to hook one monitor up to either dvi vga or hdmi the second to either dvi hdmi or displayport and the third to display port....the problem is the motherboard only has vga dvi and hdmi....my overall question is does anyone have any experience with intel 4000 graphics and getting three monitors to work? if so does it require that you hook up a monitor via displayport? if this is true then that would suck bc the board I bought for the rig doesnt have displayport

to get all three displays working you actually need TWO monitors running off of displayport. to do so, you would need to get two active displayport to DVI adapters but seeing as your mobo doesn't have a display output, it's built for single monitor use

this is an issue with the way display from the ivy bridge chips are routed.

anyway, I would recommend getting a low-mid end video card. you'll likely still need to run one monitor off of display port unless you get something from the sapphire FLEX series

yea crap i wish I did a little more research before I bought that specific motherboard and cpu combo...I could have picked up a sandy bridge cpu and a p67 board for alot cheaper and then added in a dedicated card....can you or anyone aid my laziness and find the cheapest gpu that would support three independent displays wired up in this fashion? doesnt matter vendor ati or nvidia just what ever is the cheapest...if I have to pick up an adapter i could do that too

I believe that would be a 6770 or 7750. I believe this is the cheapest

yea I was looking into that one....the cheapest one that I found was a 5450 for $75 bucks

hmm, fanless card. should work. not sure if it can do HD playback on 3 monitors without stuttering... if the church doesn't need anything that fancy, then it'll probably be fine. otherwise I think the couple of extra dollars for a 7750 is probably well spent.

yea I think your right it is always better to be safe than sorry....also I have a dp to vga adapter already so I wouldnt have to buy a mini dp adapter if I get the card you are suggesting
