Could my verizon router be causing my network issues?

Forum General Networking : Firewalls Could my verizon router be causing my network issues?

Hi - I recently bought a new computer because I believed that my old computer had a virus that no longer allowed me to download or install software from the Internet. I had data transfered from my old machine to my new one and low and behold began experiencing the same issues on my brand new machine. I thought maybe this "virus" was transferred over however the co that did the data transfer swore that it hadn't and they even ran some super scans only to find that my new (and old) computer was clean.

When I got home and connected to the internet, same thing...i am also unable to stream music or video. So I went back to them, and right there before my eyes, they were able to download/install sw and also stream video. They were so kind, they let me come back 2 times free of charge, but still no luck when I got home.

After hours on the phone with HP tech support I returned the computer and bought a new one and wouldn't you know it - same issues.

After some research online i concluded that it had to be related to something in my house, my verizon router??? Though verizon swears my connection is good, blah blah blah. Why is it that I am experiencing so many issues on a new machine, wired, when my husband's laptop on our wireless connection is fine??? Why does my computer work outside my house and why am i experiencing the SAME issues on my old and my brand new machine??

Someone HELP please!!!!!!!

if your wireless PCs are connecting fine to your network, it's not your internet connection's fault. If you are positive that your settings are correct in terms of connecting to your router, then what you could attempt is to connect the other laptop not wirelessly, but via ethernet to the router and see what happens. I am willing to bet that the wired connection will experience the dame issues, while the wireless connection will work fine (same PC). In that case, the problem might reside with the ethernet adapter inside the router, in that case you will need another router.
