I am currently running Nvidia 260gtx which has x2 monitors connected. I would like to add a 3rd monitor and I was wondering what the best way is to do this?

I have a spare Nvidia 8800gt pcie gathering dust in the cupboard.
Can I hook this 8800gt up to run with the 260gtx?

Both cards are pcie.

The mobo that I have is a xcross fire only board. It does not support SLI.

I am aware that the cards will not run in SLI but I am interested to know If the 2 cards will run and allow me to connect that 3rd monitor.

Power shouldnt be a problem, I have a 1000w PSU

Thanks all

it shouldn't hurt to try, but it is a very non-standard config so some applications may not know how to handle it and may crash

give it a blast.
