I'd like to update my 2009 Build which currently has the following parts:
Processor: Core i7 920@Stock Speeds (Water cooling for future)
MotherBoard:Asus P6T-SE
RAM: Corsair 1333MHZ 3*2GB=6GB
HardDrive: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB 7200RPM?
Graphics Card: Sapphire Vaporx 4890
Case: Cooler Master HAF 922
NOTES:
So I'd Like to get a better graphics card which can run Triple Screen either Surround by NVIDIA or Eyefinity by AMD/ATI
More RAM
Looking at a Hybrid SSD and a SSD just for running and holding my games and OS (I don't keep TOO many Games)
A nice looking Water Cooling System.
P.S I REALLY like the look of the Thermaltake GT Snow Edition Case
Approximate Purchase Date: This Month
Budget Range: $1500 - $2000 max
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Movies, Surfing the Net, Music, Folding@Home
Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, speakers, OS, Core i7 920 CPU (unless necessary), MotherBoard, Asus P6TSE (again unless needed)
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Australian Suppliers if possible
Country: Australia
Parts Preferences: No Preference
Overclocking: Yes
SLI or Crossfire: Yes
Monitor Resolution:1920x1200
Additional Comments: I would like to be able to run Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 on MAX settings and if possible Triple Screen. Eyefinity is not a MUST but it would be nice to have.
I really would love some help on this.
I have been looking at the new cards and processors and Motherboards and so on... but i'm a little confused.
It took me a good part of 3 Months in 2009 to choose the products I needed for my Setup at the time.
Your motherboard, CPU and ram are fine. I assume the power supply is good as well.
Really all you need is a better graphics card in the mix. Note the position of your card in this chart. In order to see significant improvement, you would need to go up 3 levels on the chart. In this case that would put you at the AMD 6950 level. Since you want triple screens, I would recommend bumping up to a 2gb AMD 6970 model. http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] 107-7.html
For water cooling, I would look at the various Corsair units.
I do not know too much about the Hybrid drives, but I think you would come out just as well with the SSD and a regular hard drive setup as above.
------------------------------The power supply is the most important component in any computer. Without a good quality one, you usually wind up with a really expensive door stop. Reply to tlmck
welcome on toms.
trust me level 10 gt looks great but it's not best for watercooling.Obsidian 800d is my favorite but HAF-X or xigmatek Elysium are one of the best! Elysium for $180 is a really attractive deal IMO.920 is a good cpu and so is your mobo, overclock it to 4~4.5Ghz.i am not a liquid cooling guru.i can suggest you parts for your pc but post a separate thread in watercooling section.i am sure rubix will help you.anyways here are my recommendations-

I have a Coolermaster UCP 700W power supply which has JUST decided to blow a fuse so off for RMA replacement with a free upgrade (gottta love CoolerMaster Silent Pro Gold 800W.
I have been looking at mostly getting a new graphics card... but as always just as you think you know which one you want BAM nvidia releases the 600series!
I like the Specs of the Gtx 680 but the heft price tag is just insane.
I know that I want to be able for the moment run a monitor with 2560 resolution and everything at MAX (Battlefield 3 atm)
BUT I also know that the eventual plan is 2560 with TRIPLE Screen.
I am willing to spend a little money on this I KNOW there is no such thing as future proof with computer parts.
I can't seem to find something that will run 7680 res in Battlefield 3 on Ultra settings.
