Display marred with "dancing red pixels"

Forum Graphic & Displays : Nvidia Display marred with "dancing red pixels"

Hello everyone, here's a bit or a display gordian knot for you to slice.

I'm running an NVidia GeForce 8600 GT (with drivers v. 8.17.12.7533)

The twin DVI outputs at the back run into a pair of LCDs :
a Viewsonic VX2235wm (main)
and a VX2235wm-3 as my secondary (both with drivers version 1.5.0.0)

Windows 7 reports all hardware "working properly"

Now, my problem is with the second LCD display, the VX2235 wm-3, which gives me moving red pixels at the edge of dark areas / gradients (anything not pure #000000 black).

Observation 1: Because they move around, these are not the dreaded "dead pixels" which usually lead to a simple return-to-manufacturer warranty solution.

Observation 2: This bug doesn't appear in screenshots when displayed on my other screen. Ergo, it's likely the fault lies on the hardware side.

Observation 3 : It's always the same red. I suspect there is a specific colour frequency which is being jacked to 11.

Everything else about the display (resolution, brightness and contrast, display modes etc) is pretty much fine.

Solutions attempted so far:

1) Updated all relevant drivers from their source manufacturer (i.e not Microsoft or third parties)
2) checked all DVI connectors for dust / tightness
3) researched several help sites regarding "red pixels", "dancing pixels", "red dots" etc

Most common answer on those sites is : it's a ground / earth loop which creates electrical noise. The only way to fix this is by excising a ground link between the DVI and VGA connectors at the back of the display, which means opening the box. Since I'm not exactly skilled with electronics or soldering, I'm much more concerned about damage than voiding a 6 year old warranty.

If it's a ground / earth loop, they I could perhaps

Penny for your thoughts?
